We are a new consultancy specifically looking to improve the learning of qualitative data analysis software programs (QDAS). As both of us are within academia this puts us in a strong position to understand the challenges many students and researchers face when learning a new program. Often we find that workshops offered by the software companies tend to focus on functionality. What we provide is a more embedded approach where we look at not just what the program can do but why and how to use it for specific academic applications.
We also understand that although many of our participants are highly intelligent learning a new software program does not always come easily. Our workshop therefore, caters for those who may need more assistance as we have two facilitators who can operate at differing paces depending on the need. Another important feature is that we offer one-to-one follow-up consultations. Often it is not until after the participant has begun to use the software that they become aware of what they need to know, and by offering personalised assistance problems can be solved.
We are also excited to introduce a new product we are working on to assist those who have limited time and funds. It is an ebook which will provide step-by-step instructions in how to use NVivo for academic literature reviews.
